Samsys Bar Feeders

The operating principle of the Multisaver bar feed units is the automatic feeding of short bars into a CNC lathe from a storage rack using an all electrical servo drive – no hydraulics or pneumatics required. Short bars are totally enclosed within the lathe headstock, enabling full use of machine spindle speed. Samsys also manufacture spindle extensions for longer bars if required.

Bars are stored on an inclined rack and individually loaded into the intermediate bar guide using an electric drive mechanism and then transferred into the CNC lathe using a fully controllable servo drive. Initial set-up adjustment is achieved from the front of the unit and material feed, accurate bar positioning and load cycle are controlled automatically by PLC.

For lathes without a C axis, profiled bars can be fed into the lathe using the torque controlled pulsing method.
